style master 3.5, learning web design, and a book signing

Here are a few web design goodies for today:

  • Style Master 3.5 from the good folks at westciv is now available. It comes chock full of features for the experienced and wizards and templates for the just-getting-started.
  • Digital Web Magazine has a feature, A Recipe for Learning Web Design, by D. Keith Robinson that helps newcomers to the field whip up a recipe for success.
  • Join Eric Meyer, Christopher Schmitt and yours truly on Monday, March 15 at 12:45 pm at SXSW, where we’ll be signing books and schmoozing about CSS, life, and web design.

Enjoy!

  1. Ugh. The one year I’m not attending SXSW.

  2. I think it’s a nice tool but it seemed to me a little bit comlicated. User interface, i mean. Anyway, I prefer to code CSS in my tiny little editor, EditPlus (http://www.editplus.com).

    Nice days.

  3. Molly,

Thank you for the great resource with StyleMaster. I am using it in demo mode and I’ve already found some time savers. I am used to working with TopStyle by Bradsoft, which is a very good editor. I like the wizards and the preview system in StyleMaster. The UI design is also very good.

One thing that I’ve found to be very difficult with TopStyle is the ability to find unused elements and classes in my HTML so that I can eliminate them at launch time for a site. Does StyleMaster have a way to do this?

    Thank you.

  4. This version is a VAST improvement in terms of speed and performance than Version 3.0 – John A. and the entire WestCiv organization is top notch. The learning resources on CSS they provide are a great starting point for many people.

Another decent CSS editor for the Mac platform is CSSEdit from MacRabbit.com and is $24.95

But at the end of the day I still find that hammering out CSS in BBEdit to be the best solution for myself.
